The Center City Building is the University’s first building outside of its main suburban campus and establishes a lively urban presence within First Ward of uptown Charlotte. The uniquely designed and constructed structure creates an interdepartmental atmosphere, encourages interaction, engages the public, and showcases the University’s innovative work.
McCracken & Lopez, P.A. provided the mechanical and electrical systems design engineering for this new 143,000 SF/ 12-Story building located in Uptown Charlotte. The new facility provides classrooms, conference rooms and offices for the College of Business in addition to a 300-seat auditorium, a bookstore and art gallery that are open to the community.
The classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art multi-media equipment and high tech two-way tele-classroom facilities for distance education activities. The building is also be equipped with computing and data communications systems throughout.
