Renovations and HVAC Improvements
Gaston County Schools – Gastonia, North Carolina

McCracken & Lopez, P.A. was selected as the MEP/FP engineering consultant for the Phase I construction of the existing 169,184 SF high school.

Phase 1 efforts were primarily architectural with the MEP/FP construction focused on demolishing and refurbishing two labs in the building. The majority of this phase was aesthetic renovation of aging classrooms; new flooring, new paint, new marker boards, etc. Existing fire alarm and intercom systems were replaced with up-to-date technology. Existing (2) chemistry labs were gutted and totally upgraded with new laboratory casework, fume hoods, biological safety cabinets, emergency eyewash/showers, etc.

For Phase 2 renovations, the Owner commissioned McCracken & Lopez, P.A. as Prime. Scope of work for this phase of improvements consisted of providing completely new HVAC system and electrical upgrades throughout the entire school.
