Central Energy Plant
North Carolina Research Campus
Kannapolis, North Carolina
The Central Energy Plant was design and constructed to serve several new research facilities on the NC Research Campus. The 8200 Ton/1950 BHP Chilled Water Plant of some 24,000 SF, utilizes a variable primary fan pumping scheme with series arranged machines with counter flow condenser water flow. The Hot Water Plant distributes water through a primary/secondary pumping system.
McCracken & Lopez, P.A. also provided the MEP/FP engineering design and designer-led commissioning for the 318,000 SF Core Lab Building, 125,000 SF UNC Chapel Hill Nutrition Research Institute, and 100,000 SF NCSU/Dole Nutrition Institute Building and the Underground Site Hot/Chilled Water Distribution Systems.
