McCracken & Lopez, P.A. Cx Group was hired by Wexford Science + Technology to provide commissioning services for the Core & Shell renovation and re-use of the historic RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company Building at 635 Vine Street in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The 240,000 SF/3-story building is a state-of-the-art multipurpose biotechnology research and innovation center in the Piedmont Triad Research Park with INMAR as the primary tenant. The project was designed and constructed to achieve LEED v3.0 for Core & Shell certification per the US Green Building Council’s LEED rating system.

The mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems include low-water-usage urinals and toilets, CO2 sensors for ventilation control, MERV 13 filter media to control allergens, energy efficient light fixtures and occupancy sensors to control lighting systems. To meet the requirements of LEED EA Prerequisite 1 Fundamental Commissioning and LEED EA Credit 3 Enhanced Commissioning, McCracken & Lopez Cx Group provided customized services to comply with the LEED credits.
