The City of Jacksonville Center for Public Safety now occupies the new 94,700 SF facility that accommodates the City’s Police and Fire Department Headquarters and Fire Station No. 1 in one central public building.
The 2-story building includes a public lobby that opens to the intersection of Marine Blvd and the newly realigned Court Street. The design included “shelled” space for Retail that also serves as future office and support spaces for the Police and Fire Departments. The facility also accommodates an Intelligent Transportation Center.
Interior spaces include apparatus bays for Fire Station No. 1, administrative areas, a dormitory, wellness center, a crime lab and evidence processing area, a retail expansion area, investigative services, intelligent transportation center, classrooms, 911 call center, server room, a suspect processing area (intake) and a community training room; and a third level penthouse used for mechanical and plumbing equipment.
The building was designed toward a LEED Silver certification.
